The Institute is currently seeking a Website Support Specialist to provide technical assistance and customer service related to the Gilder Lehrman website. The ideal candidate should be a strong self-starter, will work closely with out digital vendors, and be comfortable working with non-technical staff in a fast paced environment.

Roles and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

To ensure that…

  • The main GLI website and its related sites are well-maintained.
  • Requires proficiency with the current Drupal content management system (currently on version 7) and familiarity working in a LAMP stack environment.
  • Requires proficiency with CiviCRM, the website’s database.
  • Requires some coding and basic digital design.
  • Ensuring applications and data are secure and appropriately backed up.
  • Working with outside vendors to create interactives.
  • Providing training to GLI staff to ensure content and program managers are as self-sufficient as possible with updating/creating new content and running reports. * All users are supported.
  • Directly responding to inquiries and requests from a broad base of internal and external users, many of whom are not proficient with the website’s technology.
  • Includes gathering information, analyzing problems, applying patches, and troubleshooting errors, often under the pressure of time constraints.
  • Assisting in research and production of digital assets for the GLI website. * Provide technical support for the Hamilton Education Program.
  • Assist teachers with use of the dedicated/separate Hamilton Education Program website, as well as related systems such as Dropbox and Google Drive.
  • Help teachers troubleshoot various problems, such as difficulty uploading files (csv, video, pdfs, etc.) and updating contact information.
  • Assist users with account management questions, as well as resetting passwords and usernames.

Required skills/qualifications include:

  • Drupal: Experience with system configuration, content type construction, user/permission management, UberCart administration, Webforms creation, and basic theming
  • CiviCRM: Experience with system configuration, custom field and profile management, event creation, membership tools, reporting, and financial record administration.
  • Experience working in a LAMP stack environment
  • Adobe Creative Suite a plus but not required
  • Experience with providing customer service
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Able to work in a high stress environment under pressure
  • Experience working with K-12 educators a plus
  • Interest in American history a plus
