Job Purpose:

The primary purpose of this job is to develop effective campaigns, support campaign staff in their work, and build strong relationships with coalition partners to win concrete changes that improve the lives of grassroots community members.


Campaign Development

  • Develop plans, strategies, and tactics for community-identified, community-led, and data-informed campaigns that advance immigrant and reproductive justice.
  • Support organizers and youth and adult leaders to understand power dynamics and develop strategies to build power.
  • Facilitate planning and decision-making with organizers and youth and adult community members to make progress on key issues.
  • Set, meet, and exceed benchmarks for voter contact, volunteer recruitment, and grassroots engagement and voter mobilization efforts to build power and win campaign victories.

Supervision and Support:

  • Hire, train, and manage a team of other staff members to recruit youth and adult community members, develop campaigns, and build El Pueblo’s capacity to engage in effective campaigns.
  • Support organizers to develop, implement, and evaluate base building activities to recruit youth and adult community members, support their involvement in El Pueblo, and sustain their participation in campaigns over time.
  • Coordinate closely with the Director of Programs to ensure that leadership development programming and campaign development activities are aligned and complement each other.
  • Coordinate closely with the Data Coordinator to ensure that all data is being tracked and metrics are being achieved.
  • Collaborate with other staff and youth and adult community members in fundraising efforts.

Coalition Building & Collaborations

  • Build and sustain relationships with a variety of sectors and groups to support campaigns for community-identified priorities.
  • Represent El Pueblo and facilitate the participation of grassroots community members in coalitions working for social change at different levels.
  • Address and manage conflicts that arise in community and coalition settings, building consensus where possible and navigating disagreement in ahealthy, respectful way.


  • Five years’ experience implementing and/orleading campaigns, preferably within the Latinx community.
  • Experience with a wide range of organizing and base-building approaches, including legislative campaigns and electoral organizing.
  • Knowledge of the organizing landscape in Wake County and/or North Carolina preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social and reproductive justice, cross-sector organizing, and supporting youth leaders and working intergenerationally.
  • Openness to different strategies for social change including direct action, non-partisan electoral organizing, and community-led advocacy.
  • High degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic, and collaborative relationships with constituents, staff, and coalition partners from diverse backgrounds both internally and externally.
  • Computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment, as well as experience using web-based computer programs—CiviCRM and Voter Activation Network (VAN) experience desired but not required.
