About Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network

ASAN is a broad-based, farmer-centered, multi-stakeholder, and member-led network whose mission is to deepen relationships among the people of Alabama, the food we eat, and the place we live. ASAN is a community of farmers and farm employees, gardeners and homesteaders, farmers market managers and customers, ag support personnel, and grassroots community leaders. Through peer-to-peer training and resource-sharing, networking and community-building, and community organizing, we aim to build an agriculture system in Alabama that is resilient – ecologically regenerative, centered around those who work the land, just, intergenerational, and rooted in community.

The Admin & Operations Coordinator position is a new position within the organization. ASAN currently employs two full-time, one part-time, and one part-time contract staff. Our working environment is both autonomous and collaborative: each staff has work they do independently, and are expected to complete that work and report back on it where needed; at the same time we meet regularly to share progress and challenges and to talk through major decisions, and we remain available to one another for feedback and assistance.
